Photographer, T.D. Turnage

T.D. Turnage was born in Richmond, VA and raised in Washington, DC. He is a graduate of Bowie State University (BSW) and the University of Pittsburgh (MSW). Since graduate school he has been working in the social work field with titles like therapist, case manager, and the most recent contract administrator. T.D. is a husband and father of three beautiful children.

His pursuit in obtaining the perfect picture started when his wife brought him a camera as a birthday present some nine years ago. He initially started shooting art photography for himself and gradually shifted to shooting weddings and special events. T.D. has graduated from the Washington School of Photography in 2009 where he learned to hone his skills from capture of the photo to completing the printing process.

My perspective to shooting photography is simple: (1) Take the simplest approach to capture great photos, (2) make it fun for the client and myself, and (3) look for great lighting and textured shadows whenever possible. When shooting weddings and special events, I take a photojournalistic style to tell the story of the day – your monumental moment, your significant life event.
